Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Smart Home?

it’s evening and you’re about to leave your home, you press the ‘goodbye’ button on the garage keypad. the roller door opens, the garden lights light up, the front gate opens and as you drive out of your driveway you notice that your shades have lowered and the lights inside your home have turned off whilst the front entrance has lit up.

You leave home knowing that your smart home system has armed your security system, turned off all tvs and audio in your home and set the heating to ‘away’ mode, keeping your home at the perfect temperature while remaining economical.

gone are the days of opening up your mobile device to control lights and then opening up the next app to unlock your doors and then opening up another app to turn your audio off……frustrating!

a true home automation system will bring each part of your home under control using one system/app, keeping things simple and easy to use.

At what stage should I consider AV and/or a smart home?

Ultimately the best time to plan your Surround sound, Music or Smart home is at pre-construction as this makes cabling the easiest. Having said that, we have options that make retrofit installations a breeze.

How do I choose the right equipment for my home?

This is the part that A.R.T specializes in. Rather than sell an ‘off the shelf’ product (that is less likely to work best in your home), we will take the time to meet at your place or work from your plans, to create the most suitable system

Can you install a TV that I already own??

Yes. Not only can we install it, we can bring it to life with surround sound, creative lighting and a simple remote to control it all easily.

Can I listen to different music in each room?

Yes. We create your system with each room as its own ‘zone’. Each zone can operate independently from the next, or, can zones can be linked and unlinked as needed to share a source. For example, you are having guests over for a BBQ, so you can link the kitchen, dining and BBQ audio zones together to play Spotify, while the kids can watch their movies on the TV in the lounge.

What are some of the things to control in my home ?

The most common areas of control are:

Audio + video - simple control of music in any room of your home means that you will be dancing in the laundry and entertaining with music at the BBQ.

Lighting - Lighting control allows you to control any light (or group of lights with the press of any button. For example, pressing ‘goodbye’ will switch off every light in your home upon leaving.

Shades - ‘I no longer have to adjust the 20+ shades, twice a day’ is the comment we hear most. Blinds are scheduled to open at sunrise and close at sunset.

Comfort - Adjust heating and cooling on any keypad, mobile device or touchscreen. Even on the way home from work.

Intercom/Cameras/Gates - See who is at the door from anywhere, with alerts to your TV, mobile device or touchscreen.

All of the above and more are contained across one interface, which can be your choice of Touchscreen, Mobile app of TV screen.
